Material :
- 4 empty 30g Bonne Maman jam jars and their lids
- 4 thin candles (1.3 cm diameter)
- Jute string
- A wooden hoop (25 cm diameter)
- Dried flowers and fresh or preserved eucalyptus
- Gilding flakes and mix for gluing them
- A hammer, a nail and a cutter
- A pair of scissors and a brush
- Neoprene glue and hot glue
1. Customising
Using a brush, apply gilding mix to the small Bonne Maman glass jars and wait 1 minute until it becomes transparent.
Then arrange the gold flakes before applying a new thin layer of mix. Leave to dry.
2. Piercing the lid
Using a hammer and nail, pierce through the middle of the lids.
Using a cutter, draw a star in the middle of the lid, then go over each line firmly several times until the metal is cut.
Fold the star inwards into the lid to avoid any sharp edges in the circle.
3. Attaching the candles
To ensure the candles are stable, attach them to the bottom of the small glass jars with a little hot glue.
4. Attaching the candle holders
Attach the 4 small candle holders to the wooden hoop. To do this, glue the underside of the glass jar with Neoprene glue. Place it in the desired location, then remove it. There should be glue on both the wooden hoop and the glass jar. Wait 10 minutes before repositioning the candle holder. It should hold immediately. Leave to dry for a few hours.
5. Decorating with greenery
Decorate the wooden hoop with eucalyptus stems and dried flowers. Apply small spots of hot glue to the ends of the stems to stick them together.
6. The hanger
To create the hanger for the wreath, cut 2 lengths of jute thread 1.6 m long. Fold them over themselves and tie in a knot to make a loop.
Attach the 4 ends of the hanger the wooden hoop, in among the greenery between each candle holder, tying a knot. At each end there should be 45 cm between the hanger loop and the wooden hoop.
